Case Study

Automated Website Backup & Monitoring Infrastructure

RJ Autonomous designed and implemented an automated website infrastructure management solution to support uptime, offsite backups, SSL and domain monitoring, and recurring client health reporting.

Project Snapshot

Cloud Operations / Managed Services

A managed infrastructure engagement focused on backup automation, uptime monitoring, disaster recovery readiness, and stronger recurring support operations.

The Challenge

What the project needed to solve.

Small business websites often face outages, expired SSL certificates, missed domain renewals, weak backup strategies, and no structured reporting on website health. These risks created operational exposure for clients and limited the ability to turn website delivery into a recurring managed service offering.

The Solution

How RJ Autonomous approached the work.

RJ Autonomous built a cloud-based automated monitoring and backup framework using AWS S3, lifecycle policies, WordPress backup automation through UpdraftPlus, Better Stack monitoring, SSL and domain checks, and monthly health reporting. The solution improved resilience while also supporting a more scalable recurring services model.

Project Approach

How the work was structured and delivered.

These approach notes outline the implementation thinking, workflow decisions, and delivery pattern behind the project while keeping private client specifics out of the public page.

01

Approach 1

Implemented automated WordPress backup workflows that moved backups into secure AWS S3 storage on a recurring schedule.

02

Approach 2

Applied lifecycle policies to transition older backups into lower-cost archival storage for longer-term resilience.

03

Approach 3

Set up uptime, keyword, SSL, and domain monitoring so client websites could be checked continuously instead of manually.

04

Approach 4

Structured the system as a repeatable multi-client managed service framework with recurring reporting and proactive alerts.

Outcome Summary

How the project created business or operational value.

  • Improved website resilience and reduced downtime risk for clients.
  • Created an automated offsite backup process with stronger long-term data protection.
  • Supported a shift from one-time website projects toward recurring managed infrastructure services.
Measurement Context

The public version focuses on outcomes without exposing private internal reporting.

Quantitative thresholds and internal reporting details are intentionally private for this engagement. The public version focuses on the architecture, operational improvements, and managed-service value created by the system.
